oh my god...

My friends just walked up into the woods an hour ago behind the high school, trees blown down in a direction facing mostly outward from a center, burn marks on some of them.  I guess they said it looks like a small fire burned in the woods but all the trees were blown out from the middle and they were a blackish charred colour.  what's happening?
